The prototype of New Generation Reploids, Axl has the ability to mimic other Reploids with his Copy Shot. Taken in by the vigilante group Red Alert, Axl developed a ruthless love for battle. When Red Alert began to target innocents in pursuit of power, Axl left his found family and joined up with Zero as a true Maverick Hunter, putting a stop to his now Maverick brethren.
