The Tiny Striped Mario represents his infant counterpart, Baby Mario, who features his signature hat and large nose. The Yoshi Team represents the eight multicolored Yoshis who serve as the main playable characters of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The stage and music track is based on Yoshi's Island, the main setting of the titular game where Baby Mario falls and lands on the green Yoshi's back. The first battle condition references the Yoshis' role in Yoshi's Island to protect Baby Mario from being kidnapped by Baby Bowser and Kamek. The second battle condition applied to Mario references the bubble that encases Baby Mario after he is knocked off Yoshi's back after receiving an enemy attack. Other trivia: In World of Light, the Baby Mario spirit on Galeem's side of the Final Battle map matches with the Naked Snake spirit on Dharkon's side; both characters are younger versions of major characters featured in their respective series' prequel games.
This is Mario as a little kid, isn’t he adorable? After the stork carrying him and Baby Luigi to his parents was attacked by Kamek, Baby Mario was dropped down to Yoshi’s Island, while the other two were kidnapped. Resolving to help the young hero save his brother and find his parents, the Yoshis set upon their first adventure with Mario, forming a bond that would last to the present day.
