The red Curry Bowser represents Blargg, a blobby being of lava who first appears as a dinosaur in Super Mario World. The stage represents Blargg's Boiler, a molten cavern level in Yoshi's Story, which features the Blargg as an enemy. The music track is based on Melty Monster Galaxy, a lava-filled galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, which features the Blargg variants as enemies. Other trivia: This spirit's Mouthful of Curry ability further references how Blarggs are made of lava, which can cause burn damage in video games. Despite Blarggs making their debut in a Super Mario game, Super Mario World, the Blargg spirit is classified as Yoshi spirit rather than a Super Mario one. The artwork, however, comes from a Yoshi game: Yoshi's Story.
These goopy lava monsters originally appeared in castles in Dinosaur Land, ambushing Mario as he passes over their pool. They reappear in Yoshi’s Story, popping up from lava and blocking the path, pushing Yoshi back if he tries to pass. Throw an egg at one to force it back into the lava!
