The stage and music track represent the pirate ships commanded by Captain Syrup in Wario Land, such as the SS Tea Cup or the Sweet Stuff. The battle conditions reference Captain Syrup's occupation as a pirate captain who constantly steals Wario's treasures in the Wario Land series. Other trivia: This spirit's Grab type further references Captain Syrup's occupation as a thief, who is often stealing Wario's prizes and treasures.
In his endless search for riches, Wario found himself eyeing the treasure of one Captain Syrup of the Black Sugar Gang. The two are usually at each other’s throats, each stealing the other’s treasure, with the captain even siccing a Genie on Wario once. However, the two have found themselves working together once: to defeat the Shake King and claim his treasure.
