The yellow Giant R.O.B. represents the Diggernaut, a giant yellow mining robot equipped with electronic eyes that shoot lasers. The stage and music track represent Area 4, an underground cavern decorated with crystals where Diggernaut pursues Samus in Metroid: Samus Returns. R.O.B. the battle with a Drill, referencing how the Diggernaut is equipped with mining drills, which it will use to damage Samus during its encounters. Other trivia: This spirit's Bury Immunity ability further references how the Diggernaut is a mining robot equipped with specialized drills designed to allow it to dig through underground areas. In World of Light, the Diggernaut spirit is located in the Badlands area in the Light Realm, with large bones and an excavated hole, referencing Area 6, an underground area where the boss battle against Diggernaut takes place in Samus Returns.
A Chozo mining robot gone rouge, it’s original purpose was to dig the many tunnels of SR388. Samus accidentally reawakened the dormant bot, where it initially didn’t attack. After unintentionally provoking the Diggernaut, it became a true threat to Samus, chasing her through Area 4 before a final battle in Area 6.
