The rules reference Doc Louis' boxing match in his spin-off game, Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!, where knocking the chocolate bar out of his hand will anger him, causing him to increase his stats.

These days, he’s not fighting anymore, carrying on his legacy from Little Mac’s corner as his coach, celebrating every victory as his own. Don’t tell him, but he’s let himself go a little, almost never without a chocolate bar in his hand. In Smash, his Spirit runs the Gym, helping others to level up.
