The grey Giant Dark Samus puppet fighter and the third battle condition represent Gekko, a giant Metal Gear robot who doesn't use its feet to battle and uses a similar stance. The stage is based on Shadow Moses Island, which serves as the location of the boss battle against the Suicide Gekko in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which appear as background characters. Dark Samus starts the battle with increased move speed, referencing Gekko's ability to run at high speed and jump great distances in the air. Other trivia: This spirit's Jump ↑ ability further references the Gekko's ability to jump great distances. This spirit is featured in Sheldon's Place, which sells spirits related to weapons, including the military weapon, Gekko.
Combining technology from Metal Gear REX and Metal Gear RAY, Gekko are a force of unmanned military vehicles best likened to robotic infantry, with multiple being used in support of ground forces. Gekko were most prominent during the Outer Haven Incident, being deployed to hinder Solid Snake in his mission. A Gekko, alongside its two predecessors, can be seen on the Shadow Moses Island stage.
