The Giant Pikachu puppet fighter represents the Great Zapfish, a giant electric catfish and a larger variety of the regular Zapfish. The stage represents Inkopolis Tower, the tallest tower in the metropolitan city of Inkopolis where the Great Zapfish is used as the city's main power source. The Zap Floor hazard and second battle condition reference how the Great Zapfish's electrical current is more powerful than that of the regular Zapfish. Other trivia: This spirit's Giant rule references how the Great Zapfish is a giant electric catfish and a larger variety of the regular Zapfish. In World of Light, defeating the Great Zapfish spirit is required to power up the Power Plant map in the Light Realm, referencing how rescuing the Great Zapfish restores power to Inkopolis at the end of the Splatoon series' single-player modes.
Usually, Inklings can find this big guy wrapped around the top of Inkopolis Tower, providing power to the whole city. However, it’s recently gone missing! The case has been linked to a UFO crash outside the city, but that’s no alien. It’s actually an Octarian ship, and they’ve stolen the Great Zapfish to end their energy crisis and get revenge on the Inklings for driving them underground 100 years ago.
