The yellow Yoshi represents the Hammer Bro, a yellow reptilian enemy wearing green shoes. Yoshi's usage of Egg Throw references the Hammer Bro's ability to throw hammers in overhead arcs.

These are the most threatening enemies in the original Super Mario Bros., and they usually appeared in pairs! That explains why they’re called “bros.” A jump will still take them out, though. As an Assist Trophy, they’ll act like they do in the Mario series, throwing hammers in an arc and jumping every now and again.
