The cyan Inkling represents Kamek, who wears eyeglasses and a light blue robe. The Star Rod references the magic scepters wielded by Kamek and other Magikoopas, which allow them to attack by shooting magical projectiles at the player. In New Super Mario Bros. U, the Slide Lift Tower featured Kamek as its boss. The music track features the fortress boss battle theme from Super Mario World, the debut appearance of Magikoopas as a general species.

Kamek has been Bowser’s right-hand Koopa since the king was a baby, assisting him by powering up bosses, a role he continues to this very day. In Smash, he appears on the Mushroom Kingdom U stage, transforming Acorn Plains into Rock-Candy Mines, Meringue Clouds, and Slide Lift Tower with his magic.
