The blue King K. Rool represents Kritter, a Kremling enemy who works under King K. Rool in the Donkey Kong series. King K. Rool's blue alternate costume and the Defense ↑ rule reference Krusha, a blue Kremling enemy who resembles the Kritter and can only be defeated with stronger attacks. The stage and music track represent Jungle Hijinxs, the first level in Donkey Kong Country, which features the first appearance of the Kritter as an enemy. King K. Rool starts the battle with a Rocket Belt, referencing the Kritter's appearance as a playable character in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, who uses rocket-powered bongos to fly. Other trivia: In World of Light, the Kritter spirit is the first spirit encountered in the DK Island map, the location of the Jungle Hijinxs level, which features the first appearance of Kritter as an enemy.
The grunts of King K. Rool’s army, they come in all kinds of colors. Most will just walk in the Kongs’ direction, but the blue ones attack more directly with their claws. During the events of Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast, Kritter was a direct rival to Donkey Kong himself, racing with balanced stats identical to the ape.
