The first battle condition references the Perfect Guard], a technique used by Leon Belmont in Lament of Innocence, which replenishes Magic Points and hearts if an enemy's attack was blocked at the right time.
Once a noble knight, the progenitor of the Belmont Clan renounced his titles when he was forbidden to fight Walter Bernhard, a vampire who had taken Leon’s betrothed, Sara. Although Leon was able to find Sara, Bernhard had made her a vampire.
