The smaller white Falco minion fighter represents Suzaku, a small bird associated with fire attacks who is depicted white in Symphony of the Night, serving as one of Maria's sub-weapons. The stage's castle-like setting represents Dracula's Castle, the main setting of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood which first features Maria as a damsel-in-distress and a playable character. Zelda starts the battle with a Cucco, referencing the white doves used as Maria's main weapon, which allows her to release doves capable of making multiple attacks on her enemies. Other trivia: In World of Light, the Maria Renard spirit is located in the lower level of the Dracula's Castle map in the Dark Realm, referencing Maria's imprisonment in the lower levels of Dracula's Castle in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
One of the many maidens kidnapped during Dracula’s attack in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, 12-year-old Maria Renard’s true nature was revealed after Richter rescued her from captivity. A distant relative to the Belmont Clan, Maria was actually a young vampire huntress, using magic and summonable familiars to vanquish the forces of darkness.
