The larger navy Meta Knight puppet fighter's dark mask and red eyes and the second battle condition represent Medusa, who is depicted as a large, floating severed head with glowing red eyes and a dark color scheme. The Tiny Mewtwo minion fighters' cyan slender tails represent the snakes spawned by Medusa during her boss battles in the Castlevania series, which are depicted with a light blue color scheme. The music track features a remix of the theme song of Block 2 in Castlevania, which first features Medusa as the boss. The Move Speed ↓ rule references Medusa's ability to inflict the Stone status on the player during some of her boss battles in the Castlevania series, causing them to be petrified momentarily. Other trivia: This spirit's Air Defense ↑ ability is designed to support fighters who specialize in gliding and floating abilities, referencing the Medusa Head's ability to float in the air. In World of Light, the Medusa Head spirit is located in the Dracula's Castle map in the Dark Realm, with its specific placement referencing how the Medusa Heads and Medusa herself are first encountered as enemies in Block 2 of Castlevania. Despite "Medusa Head" being the name of a common enemy in the Castlevania series, the spirit battle is more closely based on the Queen Medusa boss in Castlevania.
What may appear to be an ordinary statue springs to life in this horrifying form! Haunting the Chapel of Dracula’s Castle, Medusa and the stone heads that spawn from her hair are quite the nuisance to any Belmont, flying through the air in a wave pattern. Queen Medusa herself can even spawn snakes to cover the floor and bite unsuspecting prey. Make use of your Cross to send her back to Hades!
