The Ness Team represents Ninten, the main protagonist of EarthBound Beginnings whose design and PSI moves are similar to those of Ness's. The stage is based on Magicant, a surreal dream world which Ninten visits via telepathy in EarthBound Beginnings. The music track features the theme song of the Eight Melodies, which Ninten must learn to defeat Giygas in EarthBound Beginnings. The stamina battle condition references the HP counter in the EarthBound series, which gauges a character's health points during battle. Other trivia: This spirit's PSI Attack ↑ ability references Ninten's usage of PSI attacks and his ability to increase a party member's Offense stats with OffenseUp.
An all-American boy from the town of Podunk, Ninten discovers his PSI powers and embarks on a journey across the world to find the Eight Melodies and help Queen Mary of Magicant remember her past. After him and his friends succeed, she tells them of the source of the evil they’ve had to fight: the alien Giygas, who mounts an invasion from Mt. Itoi! Now, Ninten and his allies must finish the battle against an insurmountable foe...
