The pink Inkling Team represents the Octolings, the Octarian counterparts of the Inklings who shares a similar weaponry and moveset with the Inklings. The stage represents the underground areas of Octo Valley, which primarily features the Octolings as the antagonists of Splatoon's Octo Valley mode. The music track is based on the music number performed by Turquoise October, an Octarian band whom the Octolings belong to as a sub-species. The Shooting Type items and the Inkling's favored Splattershot further references how Octolings in Splatoon only use the Octoshot, the Octoling counterpart of the Splattershot.
What, you thought all Octarians were just little tentacles? No, some of them can change forms, just like an Inkling! The only difference between an Inkling and an Octoling is the extensive military training... and the cooler hair. If you see one, there’s more on the way, so watch your back and get ready for a fight! Oh, and... maybe find a better stylist.
