The pink female Villager represents Paula, a young female character who wears a pink dress and appears as part of Ness's PK Starstorm Final Smash. The white Ness minion is based on his appearance in EarthBound, who serves as the leader of the party that Paula belongs to. The music track is based on the Eight Melodies, which plays during the final boss battle where Paula uses her Pray ability to weaken Giygas in EarthBound. The second battle condition references Paula's usage of powerful PSI attacks in EarthBound, which serve as Ness's special attacks in the Super Smash Bros. series. The stamina battle condition references the HP counter in the EarthBound series, which gauges a character's health points during battle. Other trivia: This spirit's PSI Attack ↑ ability references Paula's usage of advanced PSI attacks and abilities in EarthBound.
A well-known Twoson native, Paula Jones is a volunteer caretaker at Polestar Preschool, as well as a powerful psychic. In fact, she was the one who taught Ness PK Fire, Thunder, and Magnet before he joined Smash. She originally called out to Ness for help after being kidnapped by insane cultists. Afterwards, she joins Ness on his quest to find the eight Your Sanctuaries and gain the power to defeat Giygas.
