Spirit Battle trivia: The grey Bunny King Dedede represents Peppy Hare, a long-eared hare who features a bulging belly and wears a grey jacket. The white Fox and Falco minions are based on their appearance in the Star Fox series. They're his teammates from Team Star Fox, and Peppy is also Fox's father figure and his mentor over the course of the series. The stage's platform is based on the Great Fox, the mobile spaceship headquarters of Team Star Fox, which Peppy serves as its pilot in Star Fox Assault due to his advanced age leading him to retire from active flight. The stage's background is based on the planet Venom, where Peppy narrowly survives an ill-fated scouting mission prior to the beginning of Star Fox 64. Other trivia: In World of Light, the Peppy Hare spirit is located in the space area in the Light Realm, which requires the Great Fox to access.
The only remaining member of the original Team Star Fox, Peppy Hare was close friends with Fox’s father, James. While he was once the Falco to James’s Fox, he’s since retired from the front lines and taken on a more advisory role, running point from the safety of their mother ship, the Great Fox. His advice has proven to be invaluable over the years. After all, how else would Fox know how to do a barrel roll? His Spirit teaches the Air Style, increasing air power and jump height, but lowering ground power and move speed.
