Peach represents Princess Shroob, and the battle has a multitude of references to her final boss fight in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The battle has a similar setting with Princess Peach’s Castle, and the Attack Power ↑ and Giant rules reference the Elder Princess Shroob, the larger and stronger twin sister of Princess Shroob that appears in the second phase of the final boss fight. The battle also has the opponent start with a Back Shield and a Ray Gun, referencing Princess Shroob's energy-related attacks and defensive options in her final boss battle.

De facto leader of the Shroob Army, this Princess Shroob is actually the younger of two siblings. She attempts to take over the Mushroom Kingdom across time and space, in both the past and present, even taking over Peach’s Castle. This time-bending invasion required that the Mario bros. team up with their baby selves! Now there’s twice the bros.!
