Pikachu represents Rick. The battle references Rick's abilities in the Kirby series: he has higher ground speed and doesn't slip on ice. Pikachu starts with a Fire Flower, representing Rick's version of the Burning ability.

One of Kirby’s many Animal Friends, Rick is a speedy hamster who also has the ability to wall jump and eat enemies. Unlike Kirby, Rick won’t slip on ice. If Kirby has a copy ability, their abilities will mix together, allowing Rick to channel Kirby’s abilities as his own! In Kirby Star Allies, Rick appears as a dream friend alongside Kine and Coo, where he gains the ability to spit fire and turn to stone.
