Sagat Stage Type A
Isao Abe · 01:14
The larger-than-normal blue Ryu represents, Sagat, a large Thailand-born fighter wearing blue shorts who shares a similar moveset with his longtime rival, Ryu. The stage and music track represents the Ayutthaya Ruins, an ancient structure in Thailand similar to the Colosseum in Rome, which serves as Sagat's stage in Street Fighter II. The first battle condition references Sagat's strength and offensive power in the Street Fighter series as well as his original role as the first Street Fighter game's final boss. The second battle condition references Sagat's Muay Thai fighting style, which features a similar but more powerful moveset than Ryu and Ken's movesets. Other trivia: This spirit's Fist Attack ↑ ability references Sagat's Muay Thai fighting style, which allows him to use powerful punching attacks in his moveset.
The king of Muay Thai, Sagat faced Ryu in the final bout of the first World Warrior tournament. Ryu could only defeat Sagat by giving in to his inner darkness, using a powerful Shoryuken that left his chest scarred. In his shame, he joined Shadaloo in search of power becoming one of their Four Heavenly Kings. Sagat’s not a dishonorable criminal, though, and would eventually leave Shadaloo to seek redemption.
