The white-and-red Robin puppet fighter represents Shaft, a spellcaster who is depicted wearing a red-hued robe, uses magical attacks, and is associated with his debut game's antagonist, Dracula. The music track is based on the theme song from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which features Shaft as the major antagonist and the penultimate boss. The Invisibility rule references how Shaft's spirit appears semi-transparent in the Castlevania series, and how his spirit resides in an invisible green crystal ball that Alucard can only see while equipped with the Holy Glasses in Symphony of the Night. The Move Speed ↓ rule occurs at the same time as the Invisibility rule, which controls the player's movement speed, referencing Shaft's control over Richter Belmont's movement during the latter's boss battle in Symphony of the Night. Other trivia: This spirit's Magic Attack ↑ ability references Shaft's usage of magic-based attacks during his boss battles in the Castlevania series.
A dark priest of the Followers of Darkness, Shaft and his fellow cult members were behind the resurrection of Dracula in 1792. Though he was slain by Richter Belmont, his spirit remained through the use of dark magic, corrupting Richter’s soul. Five years later, it would fall upon Alucard to discover Shaft’s haunting and save the possessed Belmont, stopping another resurrection of the dark lord.
