The black Snake puppet fighter represents Solidus Snake, the villainous "brother" of Solid Snake who wears a black exoskeleton. The stage is based on Shadow Moses Island, the main setting of Metal Gear Solid, in which the game's events were instigated by Solidus Snake. Snake starting the battle with a Killing Edge references Solidus Snake's usage of dual katanas during his final boss battle in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The Move Speed ↑ rule activates when Snake reaches 50% or higher damage, referencing how Solidus Snake uses his exoskeleton to enhance his speed and perform dash attacks after being damaged during his final boss battle.
Former President of the United States, George Sears came to hate the shadowy forces that control American society. Unable to be a puppet any longer, he took on the codename “Solidus Snake,” intending to use the powerful warship Arsenal Gear to liberate Manhattan by force. Now, Solid Snake must infiltrate his base, defeat his allies, and put an end to his madness.
