The Starship Mario is a planetoid that Mario pilots in Super Mario Galaxy 2 to travel the universe in search of Power Stars. Mario naturally represents it, his green alternate costume matching its grassy terrain and his giant size reflecting the scale of the starship. The player's low gravity in this fight further invokes the outer space setting of the Super Mario Galaxy games. Incidentally, the Mario Galaxy stage on which this fight is set also features a background cameo from the Starship Mario.

This handsome looking spacecraft was built by Lubba for the sole purpose of assisting Mario in his quest to find Bowser and save Peach in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Eventually, the ship is boarded by all kinds of friendly passengers, including Whittles, Gearmos, and even the likes of Luigi and Yoshi!
