The brown King K. Rool represents Thanatos, the pale brown commander of the Underworld Army who features a bulging belly. The stage represents the throne room of the Seafloor Palace, a blue circular room which features the boss battle against Thanatos in Kid Icarus: Uprising. The Giant and Tiny rules reference Thanatos's ability to transform into a giant foot and appear tiny by popping out of a Thanatos nesting doll in Uprising. Other trivia: This spirit's Shield type references Thanatos' high resilience, which prevents him from being destroyed under normal circumstances. In World of Light, the Thanatos spirit on Dharkon's side of the Final Battle map matches with the Magnus spirit on Galeem's side; both characters are associated with Pit in Uprising.
The shapeshifting God of Death, Thanatos is the Underworld’s second-in-command. An eccentric and clownish deity, Thanatos is never without his wit. He originally appeared as the snakes in Medusa’s hair, launching himself at Pit during their final battle. During Kid Icarus: Uprising, he guarded the key to the Underworld in his palace, battling Pit in many forms.
