The Mii Brawler and the Mushroom items represent Toad, a member of the similarly-named race of humanoids. Princess Peach's Castle, the main hub area from Super Mario 64, featured the first 3D appearance of the Toads, who serve as Princess Peach's attendants. The first game to feature a playable Toad was Super Mario Bros. 2, whose central mechanic is the ability to grab items and enemies, hence the Mii Brawler's favoring of Suplex, a grab. The music, meanwhile, comes from the first level of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, a prominent solo appearance for Toad.
The most common citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom, Toads have been shown to have incredible speed. While some have lent this ability to help Mario and Luigi, most use it to run away from Bowser. It’s no wonder Peach always gets kidnapped. Still, Toads are incredibly loyal to the Mushroom Kingdom, with one even helping out Peach in Smash!
