Beetle
4Troféus

Beetle

A remote-controlled item shaped like a little bug, Link used this item in his adventures to collect far-off items. In Smash Bros., tossed Beetles will fly straight ahead, grab foes, and carry them into the sky. If one grabs you, wiggle with all your might to break free! A small, automated insect-like item. Throw it and it'll fly straight ahead, grab whichever opponent it finds, and carry them high into the air. If one flies at you, try to dodge it – your shield won't help. If that doesn't work, just wiggle around as much as you can to try to free yourself.
Bombchu
4Troféus

Bombchu

These mouse-shaped bombs crawl on the ground, up walls, and even along ceilings. If you toss one, it will scurry along until it hits an opponent and explodes. They won't blow up you or your friends—so user friendly! They will blow up if struck, though, so be careful. These little mouse-shaped explosives run along floors, walls, even ceilings. Throw one and it'll start running as soon as it hits the floor, getting faster and faster. As soon as it touches an opponent, it'll explode. It'll also blow up if you attack it, so be careful if your own Bombchu's passing by.
Bunny Hood
4Troféus

Bunny Hood

This hood is beloved by a man with a passion for nature who longed to emulate a long-lost breed of bunny. Wearing this hood, he gained impressive leg power that allowed him to run for days on end. If you don this hood, you'll leave your foes in the dust with enhanced speed and jump power. A hood beloved by a man who longed to be...a bunny. It gave him unrivalled leg strength, allowing him to run at top speed all day and night. In this game, it boosts your speed and jumping ability, so you can get behind enemies easily and recover quickly if anyone launches you!

Deku Nuts
4Troféus

Deku Nuts

After a short wait, or immediately if it gets thrown or hit, these little objects will explode in a burst of light. The flash will daze those too close, stunning them and leaving them open to attacks. It's easy to overlook these, so don't accidentally set one off on yourself! After a short wait, or immediately if thrown or hit, these little objects will explode in a burst of light. The flash will daze those too close, stunning them and leaving them open to attacks. It's easy to overlook these, so don't accidentally set one off on yourself! When Deku Nuts explode, they emit a light so bright that any fighter caught in the blast area – even ones with their shield up – will be stunned. If that's not enough, any foes in mid-air will be launched by the blast. Just try not to drop one by accident, or you'll definitely regret it!
Fairy Bottle
4Troféus

Fairy Bottle

A bottle that contains a helpful fairy. You can release this fairy to heal 100 points of damage, but only if you have 100% or more. If you don't, you can still throw the bottle... Just don't hit a 100% or more enemy, or they'll be healed instead and you'll feel pretty silly. A bottle containing a Fairy with healing powers. If your damage is 100% or more, it'll heal you by 100. If not, then the Fairy won't do a thing. On the plus side, if someone else needs it, you can take it instead and have the smug satisfaction of stealing their precious hope away.
Ganondorf
4TroféusGanondorf

Ganondorf

The King of Evil that awaits Link at the end of most of his adventures. Ganondorf possesses the Triforce of Power. In Smash Bros., he makes up for his low speed with devastating power. The strength of his blows can knock back most opponents. Get close with a dash attack, and pummel your foes! Ganondorf, the King of Darkness and owner of the Triforce of Power, is bent on plunging the kingdom of Hyrule into ruin. Thankfully, he's usually stopped by Link before this happens. In Smash Bros., he makes up for his low speed with devastating power. The strength of his blows can knock back most opponents. Rush in when the enemy's open and strike hard! The King of Evil is Link's arch-nemesis in most games in the Legend of Zelda series. With the Triforce of Power at his disposal, he's a fearsome opponent. In this game, his mighty attacks have so much impact, they easily make up for his slow speed, and his launching ability is extra impressive! Rush in when the enemy's open and strike hard.

Being the powerhouse that he is, the King of Evil is a great choice for free-for-alls. His Warlock Punch delivers a thunderous, dark-energy-fueled blow from his left hand. Unfortunately, left-handed dark-energy-fueled blows take some time to charge. You can turn to face someone as they cowardly try to hit you from behind. Being the powerhouse that he is, the Gerudo King is a great choice for free-for-alls. His Warlock Punch delivers a thunderous, dark-energy-fueled blow from his left hand. Unfortunately, left-handed dark-energy-fueled blows take some time to charge. You can turn to face opponents as they cowardly try to hit you from behind. Being the powerhouse that he is, the King of Evil is a great choice for free-for-alls. His Warlock Punch focuses dark energy into his left hand to deliver a thunderous back-hander. Unfortunately, focusing all that energy takes time. If someone sneaks behind you just as you start the move, quickly try to turn around.
Ghirahim
4Troféus

Ghirahim

Link encounters Ghirahim repeatedly during his adventure. Extremely confident, he encourages Link to use his title, Lord Ghirahim, when they first meet. Is he truly powerful, or does he use eloquent words to distract you and gain an advantage? No one has a higher opinion of Ghirahim than Ghirahim himself. You may call him Lord Ghirahim, by the way. Link is the thorn in this Demon Lord's otherwise flawless side, and though he might seem calm and collected, he'll start to lose his cool if he doesn't get his own way.
Gust Bellows
4Troféus

Gust Bellows

Unleash gale-force winds upon your foes to blow them far away. Unfortunately, it's just air, so it won't do any damage except maybe mess up their hair. Dropping or throwing it will cause it to spin around, blowing air everywhere. Don't blow yourself outta the fight! Point this at an opponent and unleash a strong blast of wind at them. It won't do any damage – it's just wind – but it'll give them a pretty big push. If someone knocks it out of your hands, though, it'll roll around, blowing wind every which way, so be careful or you might get blown away yourself!
Heart Container
4Troféus

Heart Container

An important item in the Legend of Zelda series, this item would appear when you beat a boss and increase your life by one when collected. In Smash Bros., grabbing this will heal 100 points of damage. Grab it as it gently floats to the ground! A quintessential item from the Legend of Zelda series that raises your max health. In those games, you have to defeat bosses to get them, but in this one, they'll just fall from the sky, which makes things a whole lot easier. If you see one, grab it quick – in mid-air if you can! Why? To take 100 off your damage – that's why!

If Link was on a desert island and could only pick one item, it'd be his powerful sword. This weapon is key to his down-air attack, a move with great launching potential and the ability to strike twice. He can also strike twice with his side smash—the second blow deals more damage and launches harder. If Link was on a desert island and could take only one item, it'd be the Master Sword. This weapon is key to his down air attack, a move with great launching potential and the ability to strike twice. He can also strike twice with his side smash—the second blow deals more damage and launches farther. Of all of his weapons, Link's sword may be the most lethal. His down air attack has incredible launching power. What's more, he'll bounce up afterwards, allowing for a follow-up strike. His side smash can also be followed up with a more powerful second blow that sends foes flying – just press the button again straight away.
Midna
4Troféus

Midna

Midna is a descendant of the Twili and comes from the Twilight World. She doesn't mind getting a bit bossy with Link, and though she offers to help him, her motives are unclear. Try to ignore her dismissive attitude—maybe she just has trouble showing her true self. Midna is a descendant of the Twili and comes from the Twilight Realm. She doesn't mind getting a bit bossy with Link, and though she offers to help him, her motives are unclear. Try to ignore her dismissive attitude—maybe she just has trouble showing her true self. A girl from the Twilight Realm who seems to look down on the world from a very high horse. She helps Link while he's a wolf, but it's clear she has some kind of ulterior motive. Still, there's more to her than meets the eye, and she and Link eventually come to understand one another.
ReDead

ReDead

These creatures may look like zombies, but ReDeads weren't human to begin with. They appear to be clay monsters fashioned in the shape of humans. They attack Link when he gets too close, the spine-chilling sound they emit difficult to describe. Don't bother—just get rid of them! Sheik

Sheik

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Sheik claimed to be a surviving Sheikah. However, this was just a cunning disguise for Princess Zelda so that she could escape Ganondorf. In Smash Bros., she's the complete opposite of Zelda, striking with fast attacks that can keep an opponent off balance. Sheik is introduced in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the "survivor of the Sheikah", although it turns out to be Zelda, who took on the disguise to hide from Ganondorf. Sheik's ninja-like speed is a real contrast with Zelda's, and it allows for sneaky, fast-paced attacks that overwhelm opponents before they can even react.

Never seen without his green bodysuit, it's a wonder this strange little man is single at 35, isn't it? In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, he was locked up for causing trouble. They're a gentle and calm people, but their leader, Darunia, is impassioned and brave. Gorons use strong and dexterous fingers to make blades and bombs.
Heart Container
MeleeTroféus

Heart Container

Heart Containers drift toward the ground slowly and replenish 100 percentage points of health. In The Legend of Zelda, these items beefed up Link's life meter; in most cases, Link found them in the possession of bosses or hidden in secret areas. Heart Containers are often scattered across the land in several fragments.
Link
MeleeTroféusLink

Link

Even in his youth, Link was already becoming the warrior who would carry the destiny of Hyrule (and many other lands) on his shoulders. His epic struggles against the forces of darkness are written in legend, and he is bound to the Princess Zelda and the archfiend Ganondorf by the awesome power of the Triforce.
Link SMASH
MeleeTroféusLink

Link SMASH

Burdened with a shield, a heavy sword, and plenty of equipment, Link is not a very mobile character. Nevertheless, he's skilled with the blade, and his varied supply of missile weapons makes him a powerful fighter. To master Link, you must control the pace by balancing your long-range attacks with head-to-head swordplay.

Link SMASH (2)

Link's Bow, Boomerang, and Bombs all take time to wield, so you may want to try drawing them in midair to prevent your foes from attacking you while you're vulnerable. The Spin Attack can score consecutive midair hits, and the final slash is very powerful. Link's Bombs are his trump card, but he can't pull one out if he's carrying another item.
Lon Lon Milk
MeleeTroféus

Lon Lon Milk

The pride of Lon Lon Ranch is this delicious and nutritious milk. When Link played Epona's Song for Lon Lon cows, they would perk up and provide him with a bottle full of the tasty beverage. The fact that Link sometimes used bottles that had housed bugs is a matter of questionable hygiene. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Young Link drinks milk instead of taunting.
ReDead
MeleeTroféus

ReDead

Seven years after Ganondorf took control of Hyrule, ReDeads roamed the ruins of Castle Town, moaning. At first, Link was shocked at the state of the town, and the apparent lack of survivors. He later learned that the townsfolk had evacuated to safety, and that the ReDeads were just magic animated into hideous humanoid shapes.
Sheik
MeleeTroféusSheik

Sheik

This is Zelda's alter ego. Using a variation of the name of the ancient Sheikah tribe, she appears before Link and teaches him melodies instrumental to his success. It's believed that she's not just a quick-change artist, but rather that she is able to instantaneously alter her clothing and her eye and skin color by using her magical skills.
Sheik SMASH
MeleeTroféusSheik

Sheik SMASH

The best strategy to use when playing as Sheik is to let her flow from one powerful attack into another, like a river of quicksilver. Zelda has some techniques with more punch, however, so in one-on-one battles, use Transform as needed. Sheik only travels a short way when using Vanish, but the move comes with a small explosion that damages foes around her.

Sheik SMASH (2)

Strategically switching between Zelda and Sheik is key. Compared to her Zelda form, Sheik is nimble and has gorgeous moves, but she lacks a strong knockout attack. The number of needles thrown in Needle Storm is based on how long you hold the B Button before releasing it. Use the Control Stick to wave the Chain after brandishing it.
Tingle
MeleeTroféus

Tingle

Tingle is a mysterious middle-aged man who thinks he's "the very reincarnation of a fairy." His bizarre behavior and unique speech are just little pieces of his vibrant personality. Tingle travels by way of a small hot-air balloon, making maps of the lands below him. Pop his balloon, and Tingle will fall to earth to sell his maps.
Young Link
MeleeTroféusYoung Link

Young Link

Link's younger incarnation is often considered to be the true Link: he was a young boy in the very first Legend of Zelda game, and he has appeared as a youth in most of the subsequent games. Since his debut on the original NES in 1987, Link's appearance has changed over and over again, each time adding to the mystique of his incomparable story.

Young Link SMASH

Young Link is lighter and faster than his older self, and his Kokiri sword packs less punch. Even though his Boomerang has a shorter range, he has greater control over it. He's a smaller target, and while his Hookshot has less reach than the older Link's, you can still use it in midair as a last-ditch attempt to grab a ledge.

Young Link SMASH (2)

With a youthful spring in his step, Young Link can perform amazing wall-jumps. Once he hits a wall, tap the Control Stick in the opposite direction to send him leaping upward; you can practice to your heart's content in Target Test. His Spin Attack can strike multiple times even on the ground, and although it's hard to discern, so do his Bombs.
Zelda
MeleeTroféusZelda

Zelda

The crown princess of Hyrule. Zelda entrusted Link with the future of Hyrule after a revelation came to her in the world of dreams. She knows much about the Triforce; in fact, the only person who likely knows more about Triforce lore is Ganondorf himself, whom Zelda evaded in Ocarina of Time by transforming into her alter ego, Sheik.
Zelda SMASH
MeleeTroféusZelda

Zelda SMASH

Zelda is a bit slow and, because of her light frame, easy to send flying. On the other hand, her magical skills lend her reliable and explosive attack power. Zelda's easier to use if you focus on waiting and countering rather than pressing attacks. She can use Nayru's Love to reflect projectile attacks or as an offensive weapon.
Zelda SMASH (2)
MeleeTroféusZelda

Zelda SMASH (2)

Zelda's midair Lightning Kick centers immense magical power in the ball of her foot. If she strikes perfectly, the attack is as strong as can be. If her aim is slightly off, it'll be exceedingly weak. Farore's Wind again utilizes Zelda's magical prowess, this time by transporting her great distances. It's vital to know the lay of the land before using this move.
