Candy Kong

It's no surprise she catches the eyes of Donkey Kong and Funky Kong. Just by glancing at them, she makes guys wonder if she likes them. You probably best remember her as the helpful lady who runs Candy's Save Point in Donkey Kong Country. You might remember Candy helping you save your game back in Donkey Kong Country. Both Donkey Kong and Funky Kong have just a little bit of a crush on her. Maybe one day, she'll notice one of them, and... Well, we're not writing a romantic novel here. Good luck to them both, though!

Cranky Kong

This old man could teach you a thing or two! Cranky Kong has always been willing to share some words of wisdom, but in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, he decides to help directly and brings his cane-swinging style to the field. What a crazy old... Ahem. What a gentleman! In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Cranky Kong's decided he's done with just giving the young 'uns helpful hints, so now he's taking things into his own hands by bringing some much-needed cane-swinging to the fray. You just can't keep an old ape down, can you?

It's not just a fashion statement – she can spin it to fly up into the air, swim against strong currents, and even throw barrels with it, no problem! No wonder Diddy Kong likes her!

Donkey Kong

This king of the jungle really, really loves bananas. His adventures usually start with people stealing his hoard of them. In Smash Bros., he's known for his incredible strength and long reach. Despite his size, he's still pretty quick. He can even jump carrying heavy items! Use this knowledge well. With help from Diddy Kong and his Animal Friends, this banana-loving king of the jungle will take on anyone causing trouble on his turf. The best things about him in this game are his colossal strength, his speed, his long reach and the fact that he can jump while holding heavy items. Make sure you use all that to your advantage!

If they're on the ground when it hits them, they'll get buried, leaving them open to a serious walloping. If they're in the air, though, they might find themselves being knocked down. Either way, it's going to hurt.
Funky Kong
4Troféus

Funky Kong

Has he remodeled his personal jet into a shop? Maybe he thinks it will encourage his items to "fly off the shelves." He claims he ran an airport once... Maybe that's true. Much like his style of conversation, I'm sure it was a pretty funky experience. Funky Kong's turned his private plane into a shop, all in some kind of effort to make stuff "fly off the shelves". Classic jokes like that and the way he says things like "tubular" might make you think you're back in the 80s, but that's all part of his charm, right?
Hammer

Hammer

Once you grab this hammer, you can't help but keep swinging and swinging. Who needs special moves when you've got a hammer? And forget your second jump—use that time to deliver a second lump! Oh, but the hammerhead isn't attached very well, so watch out if it pops off or something... This is something you just can't stop swinging. At all. You'll do a lot of damage with it, but...you won't be able to jump in mid-air or use special moves, so if you fall off the stage, good luck getting back on! Oh, and if the head pops off, you'll be left waving the handle around. If that happens... man, you are going to look ridiculous.
Hammerhead

Hammerhead

A hammer is just a stick until you add the top. That's where this item comes into play. Sometimes, however, the top comes off. If that happens, just grab this loose part and throw it at your enemies. For some poetic justice, make the guy swinging the hammer handle your first target. If the head of a hammer should happen to fall off while someone's waving it around, don't let it go to waste! Whereas Mario often squares off against Bowser, Donkey Kong must fight against King K. Rool. He's a big croc with a big attitude...and a tiny crown. He probably could have been Donkey Kong's most trustworthy animal friend. Think he'll ever have a change of heart? Not likely. This guy is to Donkey Kong what Bowser is to Mario. On second thoughts...nope. Never gonna happen.
Kritter
4Troféus

Kritter

Kritters are King K. Rool's minions from the Donkey Kong series, and they come in both green and blue varieties. Green ones will try to bite you repeatedly, and their last bite hurts the most! Blue ones will swipe at you with their sharp claws. Neither really knocks you back, so it's easy to get hit several times by them. These enemies are part of King K. Rool's Kremling gang in the Donkey Kong series. Depending on their color, they move and attack in different ways. Unfortunately for them, Donkey Kong tends to take them out before they even know what's going on. On a separate note, you can actually play as a Kritter in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast! These enemies are part of King K. Rool's Kremling gang in the Donkey Kong series. The green ones attack with their strong jaws, while the blue use their sharp claws in spinning attacks for powerful slashing. They don't have a lot of launching power, but their relentless assaults can easily wear you down. These enemies are part of King K. Rool's Kremling gang in the Donkey Kong series. Depending on their colour, they move and attack in different ways. Sadly for them, Donkey Kong has a tendency to take them out before they even know what's going on. Pauline
4Troféus

Pauline

Waaay back in 1981, a new action game using barrels and girders hit arcades. That game was Donkey Kong, in which Mario had to rescue Pauline from the title character. Maybe she wanted to look less like Princess Peach—she changed her look in the Game Boy version. One fine day in 1981, the world was introduced to a new action-packed arcade game – Donkey Kong! But back then, the girl Mario was trying to rescue from Donkey Kong wasn't Peach – it was Pauline. Also, did you know that in Japan, Pauline was originally just called "Lady"?

But who is this pig anyway? He actually prefers to go by...Professor Chops! A little pig who appears in Donkey Kong Country Returns to show you the ropes. If you're really stuck, he'll even get Super Kong to finish the level for you. "Tutorial Pig" can't be his real name, though, can it? Of course not! It's actually...Professor Chops!
Cap'n Greenbeard Scurvy Crew
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Cap'n Greenbeard Scurvy Crew

Lots of vitamin C won't do you much good against the Scurvy Crew. These are some crabby pirates! Even before the Tiki Tak Tribe hypnotized them, these sailors were scary. Just look at that hook! Or that sword! Or that...fork? OK, back to the sword! Pirates...who are also crabs... Let's just sidestep that whole issue. These guys have been hypnotised by the Tiki Tak Tribe and are filled with rage! Having said that, considering they have a sword, a fork and a hook instead of left pincers, maybe they were pretty crabby to begin with.
Expresso
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Expresso

His name is no joke—this bird is fast! Despite his size, Expresso is light as a feather and loves to glide through the air. In fact, he was too light to hurt enemies at first! He got a little stronger in Donkey Kong Land, and now jumping on foes is a piece of cake! Just as fast as his name implies! Expresso can't fly, but his running and jumping make up for it. Try not to step on any enemies, though, or he'll get hurt! Unless you're playing the Game Boy title Donkey Kong Land, that is. If you are, he can stomp on fiendish foes to his heart's content!
Mugly
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Mugly

Mugly doesn't even peel bananas before eating them! Maybe he gets his yellow skin that way. I'm sure he's a lovable monster when he isn't controlled by evil Tikis. When he charges, his spikes go away—maybe so he can go faster? It definitely exposes his weak spot... You know how eating carrots all the time can turn you orange? If bananas have a similar effect, that might explain Mugly. His spikes retract whenever he charges, which is either a sign of his better nature when he's not hypnotised by the Tiki Tak Tribe, or just a regular old weak point!
Rambi
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Rambi

A longtime and trustworthy animal friend. Even the king of the jungle, the lion, fears Rambi's might. Mario would love a lift from Rambi, but he is all Donkey Kong's! His impressive horn can defeat enemies and smash walls, and since Donkey Kong Country 2, he can super-dash! Donkey Kong's trusty Animal Friend. They say even the mightiest lion would be afraid of him, and with good reason! Since Donkey Kong Country 2, Rambi's had a special move that lets him charge right into enemies at high speed. You don't want to be on the wrong side of that!
Squawks
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Squawks

Squawks has filled more roles than most animal friends. Remember when he carried a much-needed light through the caves? Or when he carried the Kongs over danger? Good times, good times... Lately Squawks has helped by letting you know when Puzzle Pieces are near. So helpful! Whether lighting their way in the dark or carrying them through the air, Squawks the Parrot is a reliable ally of Donkey Kong and co. Lately, he's taken to sitting on branches and letting his friends know when there are puzzle pieces nearby. Quite the little helper!
Squitter
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Squitter

Squitter is one of Donkey Kong's animal friends. It must take him hours to lace up the four pairs of shoes he wears... The spiderwebs he shoots from his mouth can damage enemies, and they also can make platforms to walk on. But can he use them to make shoe racks? One of Donkey Kong's Animal Friends. Shoe-shopping must be expensive when you have eight legs! Anyway, Squitter helps you out by shooting webbing at enemies and making platforms appear in the air! And then, when all's said and done, he can put his many, MANY feet up and relax.
Tiki Buzz
SSB4_3DSTroféus

Tiki Buzz

This member of the Tiki Tak Tribe appears in Donkey Kong Country Returns. It'd be really tempting to see what kind of sound that drum-shaped head of his would make. In Smash Run, they do a dive-bomb attack if a fighter passes below. You can bounce off their heads to boost your own jump! A drum-shaped, bird-like creature from the Tiki Tak Tribe. In Smash Run, they float around in the air, and if they end up above you, they'll suddenly drop down, right on your head. Jump on them instead, though, and you can bounce off and go flying through the air. So think twice before you tell these guys to buzz off!
Colonel Pluck

Colonel Pluck

Stomp all night, stomp all day. Colonel Pluck has been hypnotized by the Tiki Tak Tribe to mash bananas with his Stompybot 3000. Looks like they're creating new tribe members with the resulting juice. Hopefully they're peeling those bananas... Nothing worse than leftover peel in a banana smoothie. He stomps stolen bananas into mush with his giant stomping machine. Why does he do it? Because the Tiki Tak Tribe are controlling him – that's why! They're using the banana mush to create new tribe members. Who knew bananas were so magical?

If you combine this swordsman of the sea with the king of the jungle, you'll get an aquatic duo no enemy can hope to overcome. Like Rambi the Rhinoceros, Enguarde can dash to blast through foes. Does that mean we should call him the Rhino of the Sea? Or maybe Rambi is the Swordfish of the Shores? Hmmm... Stu
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Stu

In the Ruins area, Gong Tiki puts a mysterious egg into a golden cauldron and then jumps in after it. Five seconds later, the newly hatched chick breaks holes for its wings and legs and takes to the air. When Stu chucks bombs from his cauldron, pick them up and return the explosives to him. It's only fair, right? Deep within ancient ruins, Tiki shaman Gong Oh drops an egg into a golden cauldron, and magically causes it to hatch. Out of the egg pops Stu, his wings and talons busting through the cauldron. He's got bombs in there, and he loves to throw them. Chuck them back at him before they explode!
Thugly
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Thugly

Thugly charges at you after being hypnotized by Xylophone Tiki. The weak spot on his back is well protected by an opposite-of-a-weak-spot shell. When he comes to an abrupt halt, his shell will flip forward. At last, the time to strike! Thugly should really get bungee cords or something to hold that in place. A charging monster controlled by a Tiki called Xylobone. There's a weak point on his large back, but it's covered by a thick shell, so can it even be called a weakness at all? Well, it doesn't protect him all the time – when he brakes suddenly, the shell flips open! Someone should tell Thugly to glue that thing down...
Tiki Tong
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Tiki Tong

In the scorching hot lava of the Volcano area, Tiki Tong waits for Donkey Kong to arrive. It may look like he's enjoying a nice banana snack, but really he's just preparing his next attack: spitting banana juice on the Tikis! That's gross. Gotta get over how nasty that is, though, as the soaked Tikis join with Tiki Tong to attick—I mean attack! In the lava-filled Volcano region awaits Tiki Tong, the leader of the Tiki Tak Tribe. He liquefies a whole pile of bananas into goo, and then – instead of eating it – spits it all over his minions and fuses them to him! Ew! The Kongs'll have to hold off on complaining about how disgusting it all is – taking Tiki Tong out takes prioritiki.
Tiny Kong
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Tiny Kong

Debuting as a small member of the Kongs, she can shrink even smaller with Mini Monkey. Unfortunately, she hasn't put as much effort into mastering flying with her ponytails as Dixie has. Remember: these Kongs are trained professionals and perform stunts under Nintendo supervision. Don't try flying with your ponytails at home! She isn't quite as small as when we first met her, but with her Mini-Monkey ability, Tiny Kong can still live up to her name! She can't fly with her ponytails like Dixie can, but she can still twirl to glide through the air. Remember: these Kongs are trained professionals. Do not try flying or gliding with your ponytails at home!
Winky
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Winky

The Kongs have all kinds of animal friends. Mammal friends, fish friends, bird friends. Winky is a frog. He defeats those pesky Zingers by bouncing on top of them. You might worry about falling off that slippery back of his, but all concern will wash away as you are hopping through the skies. The Kongs' Animal Friends come in all shapes and sizes. There are mammals, fish, birds... There's even a frog! Winky's high-hopping abilities make him really useful when it comes to taking out those pesky Zingers. Best of all, you don't need to worry about accidentally falling off that slippery back of his – it just never happens!
Wrinkly Kong
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Wrinkly Kong

Wrinkly Kong first appears in Donkey Kong Country 2, where she manages the Kong Kollege. Even Kaptain K. Rool was one of her students at one time! Sadly, Wrinkly has become a spirit by the time she's seen in Donkey Kong 64. She doesn't let her ghostly form keep her from sharing advice, though. Wrinkly has been in the series since Donkey Kong Country 2, where she was the director of Kong Kollege. Even Kaptain K. Rool was one of her students once upon a time! She passed away at some point before Donkey Kong 64, but still shows up now and then as a ghost. Why should she let a little thing like death stop her?
Zinger
SSB4_WIIUTroféus

Zinger

It'd be a ton of fun to ride on a Zinger, flying high up into the sky. Too bad they're covered in spikes and not all that friendly to begin with. Zingers come in different colors, with the yellow ones flying up and down and the red ones flying in circles. We don't want to spoil it, so you'll have to play to find out what the others do! It'd be great if you could fly through the sky on a Zinger – too bad they're covered in spikes and far too nasty to let you. The yellow ones fly up and down while the red ones go round in circles. Want to know more? Go and check them out yourself, then. No promises you'll come back in one piece, though!

Donkey Kong

A carefree jungle dweller with the charisma of a natural leader. He keeps busy by foiling the plans of the Kremlings and their boss, King K. Rool. As his physique suggests, this ape is a powerhouse. Enguarde

A swordfish animal buddy. Enguarde always appears on water levels where he can loyally help Donkey Kong get around. Much appreciated, right, DK? Complementing his cute, round eyes, Enguarde's pointed bill proves to be a powerful weapon. One thrust from it will easily down most underwater opponents.
Expresso
BrawlTroféus

Expresso

An ostrich friend with sneakers on both feet. Riding Expresso allows for high-speed dashing. As an ostrich, Expresso can't fly, but rapid button pressing can put extra distance on his jumps. This can be used to help Donkey Kong reach distant places.

Kalypso
BrawlTroféus

Kalypso

A cool beauty with chic makeup and groovy hair. Kalypso combines enough acceleration to break free from the pack with a respectable top speed. Her cornering is a bit weak, but good players should be able to overcome this. Her claw attack will get you...if her high-pitched laugh doesn't. A cool beauty with chic make-up and groovy hair. A strong leader figure, she has the full trust of all the Kremling Krew. She boasts excellent reflexes, and is very accomplished in sports and dancing. The clubhouse she owns is regarded as something of an oasis for Kremlings.
Kass
BrawlTroféus

Kass

A precocious Kremling child. Kass is an ever-so-slightly malicious girl who wants to grow up ever so much. Her trademark look is a camisole and jumbo ribbon. She exhibits top-of-the-line cornering and acceleration but has close to the lowest top speed of all the characters in Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast. She attacks with spin moves. A precocious Kremling girl who has an air of aloofness about her. She has beautiful locks, and looks charming in her striped dress. Clever but vicious as well, she has a keen rivalry with Dixie Kong and is always plotting an idea to twist her tail. She has a fear of frogs, which is why she tends to shrink away whenever Winky's around...
King K. Rool
BrawlTroféus

King K. Rool

The supreme commander of the Kremling Krew. King K. Rool steals bananas from Donkey Kong and ends up kidnapping Diddy Kong. He is so good at playing dead that sometimes the credits even roll as he lies there, feigning defeat. His brother, Kaptain K. Rool, made an appearance in the game Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Kip
BrawlTroféus

Kip

The little brat of the Kremlings and a naughty trickster. Kip is quick and corners as well as anyone, but his top speed is quite low. He sports a tough look with his black T-shirt and spiked wristbands--just the look he needs to prove he's one bad little dude. His attack is a double-legged kick. The little brat of the Kremlings and a naughty trickster. Kip has a quick temper and he tends to rush into situations without thinking about the consequences. He has a fierce rivalry with Diddy Kong and will compete with him over pretty much anything. He simply adores donuts. Along with Kass he is one of the youngest Kremlings, which is why he is cherished by them so much.
Kludge
BrawlTroféus

Kludge

A member of the Kremling Krew making his first appearance in Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast. His less-than-average acceleration and weak cornering are offset by an impressive top speed. Kludge's relation to the physically fit blue Krunchas and Krumples of the Kremling forces is still unknown. A massive, monstrous Kremling who, once riled up, is rumored to even give King K. Rool trouble. His child-like manner has made him firm friends with Kip and Kass. Unfortunately, Kludge is pretty simpleminded--thinking about too much at once tends to overheat his brain. His hobby is devouring anything and everything at the dinner table.

Peanut Popgun

A unique firearm that only Diddy Kong can use. It's made of a chunk of wood and shoots peanuts. In Donkey Kong 64, he carried two pistols and could fire two shots at a time. In Smash Bros., the peanut ammo bursts out of its shells when fired. The peanuts can be grabbed and eaten to reduce damage. The longer the gun is charged before firing, the faster the peanuts fly.

Rocketbarrel Barrage
BrawlTroféus

Rocketbarrel Barrage

Diddy Kong's Final Smash. Equipping his rocketbarrels and dual peanut popguns, Diddy can fly around attacking opponents in rapid-fire fashion. He can tilt the barrel jets left or right to control his flight and shoot peanuts straight down, too. This is a technique that tests one's ability to control both movement and attack direction.
Rocketbarrel Pack
BrawlTroféus

Rocketbarrel Pack

An item that looks like regular barrels but becomes a rocket-powered jet pack when Diddy Kong straps them on his back. It's a convenient gadget to have when adventuring, but for whatever reason, Diddy also uses it when playing tennis and basketball. The moves he can pull off with the rocketbarrel pack are so cool that they're almost not fair. Almost.
Spring
BrawlTroféus

Spring

An item used to assist jumping. Jump on it, and it will send you bounding sky-high. You can also toss enemies onto it. It originally appeared in the second stage of Donkey Kong Jr., where it was used as a shortcut to leap to a distant platform. It resembles the bouncing projectiles that appeared in Donkey Kong, but those are said to be actually jacks, not springs.
Squitter
BrawlTroféus

A boss enshrined upon a cliff in the Apple Kingdom. This creature gathers its breath and launches bombs from its nose. The trick is to throw pineapple-shaped bombs into its nose when it's inhaling to blow it up from the inside. For all its austerity, the Turret Tusk is actually quite stupid.
Wrinkly Kong

Barrel Cannon
MeleeTroféus

Barrel Cannon

The Barrel Cannons were used in Donkey Kong games as a vital means of transportation, and their explosive nature is used similarly in Super Smash Bros. Melee. On the Kongo Jungle stage, one can catch characters as they fall from the main platform. Careful! The Barrel Cannon rotation may accidentally send you flying off the screen.
Dixie Kong
MeleeTroféus

Dixie Kong

More than just Diddy Kong's girlfriend, Dixie Kong is also a fearless adventurer and a reliable team player. She earned her wings helping Diddy rescue Donkey Kong from the clutches of King K. Rool. Dixie's amazingly quick and nimble, and she's even able to twirl her ponytail in order to float slowly through the air.
Donkey Kong
MeleeTroféusDonkey Kong

Donkey Kong

While he now prefers the laid-back jungle lifestyle to construction site mischief, DK is often forced back into action by the Kremling Krew. The great ape is quite fast despite his burly physique, and he keeps his strength up with a steady diet of his favorite food: bananas. His one extravagance (and only piece of clothing) is a monogrammed necktie.
Donkey Kong Junior
MeleeTroféus

Donkey Kong Junior

Donkey Kong Jr. came to the rescue when Mario imprisoned his father. DK Jr.'s challenge was to collect the keys to Donkey Kong's cage, all the while dropping fruit on his enemies from high above. He was able to climb faster by using two ivy vines at once. This ape is also quite skilled at kart racing, tennis, and mathematics.
Donkey Kong SMASH
MeleeTroféusDonkey Kong

Donkey Kong SMASH

Being the strongest simian around, DK has the upper hand once he grabs an opponent. He can even lift his foe up and make him or her an unwilling traveling companion; if DK grabs you, shake your Control Stick as fast as you can to break his grip. His Spinning Kong covers more lateral distance than vertical, so use it quickly to recover.
Donkey Kong SMASH (2)
MeleeTroféusDonkey Kong

Donkey Kong SMASH (2)

Donkey Kong is a huge target in a fight, so he hates crowds. When he's in the fray, his Giant Punch deals serious damage to multiple opponents. The big ape's Headbutt hits so hard that it temporarily buries opponents in the ground. DK is a lot faster than he looks, and he's lethal in the hands of a master.
Hammer
MeleeTroféus

Hammer

If you grab the Hammer, you'll run across the screen swinging it back and forth nonstop. In Donkey Kong, Mario used the Hammer in exactly the same fashion. It's an extremely powerful item, but you have no recovery move when carrying it. Every now and then, the mallet head will fall off, and you'll end up completely vulnerable, swinging just the handle.
King K. Rool
MeleeTroféusKing K. Rool

King K. Rool

The demented head of the Kremlings and big boss in the Donkey Kong series, K. Rool is a giant, greedy glutton with a serious eye tic. While he fits the evil boss mold nicely, he's just enough of a bumbler to have gained a few fans over the years. His plan to blow up the DK Isles with his Blast-o-Matic shows how unbalanced he is.
Klap Trap
MeleeTroféus

Klap Trap

This low-slung alligator made its first appearance in Donkey Kong Country. You can subdue it by jumping on its back, but its powerful jaws make it dangerous to approach from the front. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, it swims in the river and sometimes jumps in the Barrel Cannon to stop players from using it.
Stanley
MeleeTroféus

Stanley

Stanley is a plucky exterminator who takes on Donkey Kong and an army of insects in the third installment of the original Donkey Kong series. Stanley has a tough job: he has to chase Donkey Kong away to another greenhouse with his insect repellant, then climb up the ivy to pump the main hive with the deadly spray.
